Carbamazepine is an anti convulsant medication. It is supply by few brand names across the globe in various nations, some of which are Tegretol, Zeptol (Sun Pharma) and Tegrital (Novartis). Carbamazepine is prescribed for the treatment of seizures and nerve pain like trigeminal neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy. This medication is also used to treat bipolar disorder.
Carbamazepine is used to prevent the development of convulsive seizures with alcohol withdrawal syndrome (in hospital), facial muscle spasms in trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, pain syndrome in diabetic neuropathy, diabetes insipidus of central origin, polyuria and polydipsia of neurohormonal nature.
